Sevilla are confident of keeping midfield star Ivan Rakitic out of the clutches of Liverpool and Chelsea after expressing their intention to tie him down to a new three-year deal in the coming weeks.
The Croatia international is one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe and he crowned a glorious season on Wednesday night by captaining Sevilla in their Europa League final win against Benfica.
He has just over one year left on his existing deal and is wanted by a string of European giants, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Napoli.
Now Sevilla president Jose Castro Carmona says he expects the 26-year-old to finally put an end to speculation over his future by signing a new contract imminently.
He told Mediaset: "There are no problems with Rakitic, he has another year on his contract, and our goal is to get him to sign a new three-year agreement shortly."
Rakitic, formerly of Schalke, has scored 15 goals and set up 13 in all competitions this season.
