Nollywood veteran yoruba genre Actor and producer,Dele Odule, has emerged the president of Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria, (TAMPAN), having polled 91 out of the expected 91 votes.
The election, which took place at the Glory View hotel, Bodija,Ibadan, on Saturday, witnessed the huge presence of aggrieved former members of the Association of Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) who had left the association to join TAMPAN some months back.
Dele Odule, who was declared winner by the chairman of the National Electoral Committee of the organisation, Alhaji Lateef Deinde, disclosed that he would use his power to resist the infleunce of godfatherism and also promised that all members of the association would be carried along in the affairs of the association.
The election also brought in Antar Laniyan as the deputy president; Abbey Lanre emerged Director of Motion Picture; Rasaq Adewale becomes Director of Theatre Arts; Bolaji Amusan (Mr Latin),came in as Director of Organisation and Businees, while Yomi Fash Lanso also emerged as Director of Publicity and Research respectively.They all emerged unopposed.
It was however a keenly contested battle for the post of General Secetary, as Ayo Olabiyi, famously known as Bobo B, emerged winner having polled 67 our of 91 votes to defeat Feso, who polled 23 votes.
Bamidele Adeoti also defeated Yomi Osagie to become the association’s Financial Secretary, having polled a total number 73 votes to defeat Osagie, who managed to poll 9 votes.
Fathia Balogun who almost caused a stir when a photo journalist attempted to take her picture while she was eating, also emerged unopposed as the Social Director (Female).
Toyosi Adesanya also came in unopposed for the post of Provost Marshal (female).
