JAMB INCREASES CBT CENTERS TO 256 FOR 2014/2015

JAMB INCREASES CBT CENTERS TO 256 FOR 2014/2015
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has designated 256 centres for the 2014/2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)

Computer Based Test (CBT) across the country.
Mr Fabian Benjamin, the board’s Head of Public Relations, made the disclosure in a telephone interview with the the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in

Lagos.
Benjamin said that the centres were increased from 56 in 2012/2013 to 256 for the forthcoming examination.
He said that the increase was made to accommodate the large number of candidates applying for the CBT.
“Application form is out; preparation for the technical aspect is in top gear and we are always ready.
“Centres that had hitches during the 2012/2013 examination will be corrected, while some may not be used.
“What we already have on ground is close to perfection,“ he said.
The board, in an earlier statement, had announced the commencement of the sale of the application forms for the 2014/2015 academic session UTME.
It advised qualified candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria that online registration would be on until March 14, 2014, while the

website would be closed on March 25.
JAMB said that the examination would be conducted on April 5, 2014 for those writing the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) and Dual Based Test (DBT).
It said that the date for the Computer Based Test (CBT) would be announced later.
The board said that the examination centres of the candidates would depend on their chosen towns during online registration

SWISS GOVERNMENT WILLING TO HELP NIGERIA IN THE $6.8Bn OIL SAGA

Switzerland is ready to assist Nigeria in the ongoing investigations into the alleged more than 6.8 billion dollars (N1.1 trillion) fraudulent oil deals involving the NNPC and Swiss oil trading companies.
Mr Hans-Rudolf Hodel, the country’s ambassador to Nigeria, made the pledge on Monday in Abuja.
Hodel told reporters that though no formal request for assistance had been made to his government on the issue by any representative of the Nigerian government, both countries had an existing mutual legal assistance.
This, he said, entails providing banking information and freezing of bank accounts, “if such accounts are identified in the criminal proceedings’’.
Hodel said that the report issued by the Swiss-based NGO, Berne Declaration, which highlighted the transactions between NNPC and Swiss companies, did not represent the official position of the Swiss government.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the report entitled “Swiss Traders Opaque Deals in Nigeria”, catalogued the modus operandi employed the “letter box companies” and the alleged partners, to defraud Nigeria.
Following the report, the House of Representatives mandated a joint committee to investigate the alleged involvement of the NNPC with the Swiss oil dealers in the deals.
NAN reports that the NNPC has since denied involvement in the alleged fraud.
Hodel said: “I have no knowledge that we have been contacted by the authorities (Nigeria).
“In case they will start proceedings and they will need our help; of course, with the international legal cooperation we will help them if they approach us but until now they have not approached us,’’ he said.
The Swiss envoy recalled that in a letter dated Sept. 10, 2012, Nigeria had requested legal assistance from his country regarding the fuel subsidy scheme.
He said the request had been forwarded to “the competent Swiss judicial authorities’’ who are in contact with their Nigerian counterparts, but declined further information on the issue because legal proceedings are ongoing in Nigeria courts.
On the return of illicit assets to Nigeria, Hodel said cooperation between both countries culminated in the repatriation of alleged 700 million dollar loot by former Head of State, Gen.
Sanni Abacha.
“The entire 700 million dollars blocked in Swiss bank accounts have been returned to Nigeria and the case has been closed,’’ he said.
The envoy pledged his country’s commitment to combat money laundering and financing of terrorism in West Africa.
He said the Swiss Government and the Inter-Governmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA) would organise a three-day seminar on the issue from Tuesday, Nov. 26 to Thursday, Nov. 28 in Abuja.
He said the seminar would focus on the informal, cash-based aspects of money laundering and financing of terrorism, as well as cross-border cooperation of financial intelligence units. (NAN)

Stallone has of course portrayed the character on four occasions, most recently in 2008, while Rambo also has past TV experience thanks to the short lived 80s animated series Rambo: The Force of Freedom. Yes, some clever television executive really thought the franchise was suitable for Saturday morning kid's TV..
Stallone - who is currently in Bulgaria shooting The Expendables 3 - is also potentially set to reprise his other signature role in the near future, with Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler busy developing the Rocky spin-off Creed which is set to star Michael B. ANGELINA JOLIE DELIVERS POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL SPEECH ABOUT MOTHERHOOD AT THE 2013 GOVERNORS AWARDS

When Angelina Jolie opened up about her double mastectomy in a shockingly candid and heartfelt op-ed in The New York Times, she wrote that her mother, Marcheline Bertrand—who died of breast cancer at age 56—motivated her decision to undergo surgery. So when she accepted the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2013 Governors Awards in L.A. this past weekend, Jolie didn't hesitate to pour out her heart, giving an emotional acceptance speech about her relationship with her mom, her kids, and the mothers across the world she's met during her humanitarian work.
The 38-year-old actress has been working with the United Nations Refugee Agency since 2001 and was given the title of special envoy after making more than 40 field missions (including recently helping refugees flee the war in Syria). Yet, she still has time to hold the Hollywood spotlight—such as starring as Maleficent in Disney's hotly anticipated remake of Sleeping Beauty and partnering with M.A.C Cosmetics on a range of villain-inspired products. what strikes me much is that, the actress is so relatable by openly devoted to her six children and fiancĂ©, Brad Pitt. In her touching speech, Jolie thanked her family: "My love," she said, addressing Pitt. "Your support and guidance makes everything that I do possible. Mad [Maddox, her son], I'm not going to cry. I promise I won't embarrass you. You and your brothers and sisters are my happiness—there's no greater honor in this world than being your mom."
Then, she explained how her mother loved the arts but never got to express herself through it beyond acting classes. Nonetheless, she still helped make Jolie's dreams come true and pushed her to use her voice to do good. "She drove me to every audition and she'd wait in the car for hours," revealed Jolie. "And she'd always make me feel really good the times I didn't get the job, and when I did, we would jump up and down and scream and yell like little girls. She wasn't really the best critic since she never really had anything unkind to say, but she did give me love and confidence and above all, she was very clear that nothing would mean anything if I didn't have a life of use to others."Jolie ended the speech by making us all reflect on how we can make change. "We are all, everyone in this room, so fortunate," she said. "I have never understood why some people are lucky enough to be born with the chance that I had—with this path in life. And why across the world, there's a woman just like me with the same abilities and the same desires, the same work ethic and love for her family who would most likely make better films and better speeches. Only she sits in a refuge camp, and she has no voice. She worries about what her children will eat, how to keep them safe, and if they'll ever return home. I don't know why this is my life and that's hers…But I will do as my mother asked, and I will do the best I can with this life to be of use. And to stand here today means that I did as she asked. If she were alive, she would be very proud, so thank you.

9ICE PLANS TO MARRY THE MOTHER OF HIS TWINS SOON

Shortly after his marriage to ex-wife Toni Payne packed up in 2010, 9ice welcomed a set of twin daughters with another lady Vicki Gordis.
In a recent interview with Punch, 9ice disclosed that he will be getting married soon to the mother of his twins, Vicki.
See excerpts below:
Do we see you getting married to their mother soon?
I will get married soon. It is very possible.
So, will you be getting married to the mother of the twins?
It is very possible.
But is she the one you are with at the moment?
I am not saying anything on that. No comment.
What of your first son?
He is very fine. He is in America at the moment with his mum. Education is good in Nigeria but we wanted him to grasp a higher quality of education. His mum decided to go back to America so he had to go with her.
Do you communicate with them often?
Oh yes, I was even in America last month.
How involved are you in his welfare?
I have never been left out. I have always been involved in his welfare right from the time he was born till now. It will be like that till I give up.
You have not really talked about your marriage with Tony Payne?
News is always about assumptions and rumours and gossips. It is left for people to pick out the meat. The media has already stolen the show from me. There is nothing to talk about again. I was one of the crowd and I was watching as the news were flying.
Do you regret that marriage?
I don’t. I have never regretted that marriage. I have so many reasons.
What are the reasons?
It is not only because of my son. Without that marriage, I will not be here today. I see life from a different perspective now. There are things that are inevitable. So, many things are bound to happen in life and there is nothing you can do about it. When such things happen, you have to face it. You only have to manage it when it happens and from there, you move ahead. If you don’t move ahead from that situation, you will never go to the next level.
Is it likely you will get out of the marriage institution when you go into it again?
I pray I don’t. I always say that marriage is not for this generation and a lot of people question me when I say it. My mother would always be in the house by 5.30 pm. Whether my dad gave her feeding money or not, there must be food on the table when he got home. My mother would give us school fees whether my father gave her or not. But women of these days, even when the husband is at home, the wife can come home later than 10pm and nothing would happen. She would even stop by the eatery and buy dinner instead of cooking. The principles God lay down for this institution is not there again. What we have now is ‘manage institution.’ So, whatever situation we find ourselves in, we should manage it and then there won’t be any trouble. Now, how many marriages last? Because it is 9ice’s marriage, everybody is talking about it. Check your neighbour. It happens everywhere.
Why did you deny you had twins when they were born?
I did say I didn’t have twins then because I believe it was personal. If I have N1m, I think it is only my account’s officer that should know how much I have. In fact, he wouldn’t even have the right to check my account unless I ask him to do that. He couldn’t just cull up my account details and start checking how much I have. This is not a car we are talking about, these are human beings.
But when they grow up, do you think they will forgive you when they read that you once denied them?
I will tell them the reason I did that. It was the same way my father gave me his own reasons. I didn’t know him until I was 22. I got to know my mother when I was 18. They gave me their reasons for doing what they did. I asked my father where he was all the time I was growing up and he told me where and how and when he was a part of my life. If my kids grow up to ask me why I did what I did, I would certainly explain to them.  I didn’t say I didn’t have kids just because I wanted to lie, No. I had my reasons. I had my life to live. You are in showbiz, so you shouldn’t expect to have a private life…
But there are still some elements that are personal. I didn’t fight anybody when the stories came out. I just didn’t say anything because I wasn’t ready to talk about it. I wasn’t ready to share the story. When I got ready, I even shared the pictures of the twins. Who knows, I could have even used their pictures to make money and sell to a publication that wanted them. But I just released the pictures.

CHELSEA Latest Targeted STRIKERS

Clearly Jose Mourinho is fed up with fielding pretend strikers, which would explain why Chelsea have been linked to two of football's goal machines.

Radamel Falcao
Falcao only moved to Monaco at the start of the season after the Ligue 1 club paid Atletico Madrid a reported £50m and the 27-year-old has continued his mind blowing exploits in front of goal. He is a natural finisher and he was one of the most sought after strikers before his transfer to France. Over four seasons in Portugal and Spain he hammered in 142 goals for Porto and Atletico and already has nine in 13 games this season. He is expected to have a big impact at the World Cup, with Colombia being one of the top ranked sides in the world.

Mario Balotelli
Following his transfer from Man City in January, Balotelli had a blistering half a season in Italy's top flight scoring 12 goals in 13 Serie A games. This season, Milan have struggled, but the 23-year-old has still found the back of the net five times in 13 appearances on the domestic and European front. Balotelli is still young, but has bags of experience having played under Jose Mourinho – who called him “unmanageable” - at Inter in the memorable treble-winning season in 2010, while his goals at Euro 2012 fired Italy into the final where they were well beaten by Spain 4-0.

What's the latest?
On Falcao
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will probably have to shell out a lot more than the £50m Monaco handed over for Falcao if he wants a striker who actually scores goals. A summer move was talked about, but it is now thought the Blues will make their move in January, with Jose Mourinho visiting Brussels recently to watch him score for Colombia against Belgium, while the gaffer and the player are represented by the same man, Jorge Mendes.

On Balotelli
Italian media report that a transfer to Chelsea could happen and €30m (around £25m) has been mentioned. Milan are sitting in mid-table 19 points off leaders Roma after just 12 games and if the club fail to earn a Champions League place at the end of the season, then they will not be flushed with the cash they currently have, meaning the amount of money being discussed would be welcome at the San Siro and if Giampaolo Pazzini recovers from a knee injury, there is no need to look for a replacement. Balotelli himself also hinted he may move by going out of his way to reveal how happy he is at Milan and that he only looks towards the next game...

What is being said?
"I don’t know if he [Mourinho] was impressed by what he saw – I hope I made a good impression on him."
- Falcao speaking after Colombia's 2-0 win against Belgium

“Jose Mourinho and Mario Balotelli at Chelsea? They have a good relationship and are in contact - the respect is mutual. If he can go to Chelsea? It may happen but [Milan vice-president] Adriano Galliani obviously, does not want this.”
- Mino Raiola, Balotelli's agent
Who do you think Chelsea should be looking ?

MAN U are TITLE CONTENDER

Manchester United can mount a Premier League title challenge despite their poor start to the season - Mikael Silvestre.
After a tough opening to the campaign results are now improving for the Red Devils, as shown by their 1-0 victory over Arsenal last time out.
And the former Old Trafford defender reckons, if they can build on their triumph over the Gunners, they have the credentials to retain the trophy in David Moyes’ first season in charge.
“Manchester United have got the ability to bounce back,” Silvestre .
“The way the game [against Arsenal] ended two weeks ago at Old Trafford has shown everyone that Manchester United always fight until the end.
“It’s been a tough start for the squad but hopefully they will keep this cruising speed until the end of the season they will be contenders [for the title].”
